A lucky man |
[John] ... Pilgrims observe one another. Nothing judgmental, just
natural human curiosity – what brought that person onto the Camino, how are
they getting along, do they need some help?
Here’s how we’re known by our Camino community based on
what’s been reflected back to us – we’re the pilgrims with light packs (we wear
lumbar packs around our waists rather than backpacks),
Glitter Pilgrim |
Ning is the glitter
pilgrim who wears sparkly shoes and bejeweled patches.
We’re the giver of Camino pins (it’s a gift to us to
see others wearing their pins). We’re a couple very much in love.

At the end of one grueling day I was slumped in a chair
in a café. Ning went to the bar and
fetched two cold beers and a plate of tapas.
A young English pilgrim at the table
next to us observed this and said, “You are a very lucky man.”
Yes, I am.
