We made a lot of deep friendships along the way. Because our walking program was a bit longer than others, our first Camino family moved on ahead of us around Burgos. Most of our Family #2 moved on ahead of us after Leon. So it was with Camino Family #3 that we celebrated our arrivals in Santiago.

Santiago Parador Hotel |
We were blessed to be staying in the Parador Hotel (Hostel dos Reis Caholicos) next to the Cathedral. It reputedly is the oldest hotel in the world, having been commissioned in 1499 to shelter and care for pilgrims. After our 45 nights in tiny towns along the Camino we luxuriated in the Parador's renovated five-star opulence.

On arrival evening, we sent a note to our Camino family to join us for an impromptu party on the terrace of the Parador. Every pilgrim invited showed up and each was welcomed with celebratory shrieks and happy dances.
Every one of these people means so much to us. Here are photos of several who joined our end-of-the-pilgrimage cocktail party, which was followed by dinner together at an Italian restaurant,
