Relator and Woo on the Camino

My last job at Caterpillar was a Gallup StrengthsFinders Coach.  It was wonderful to help people define and celebrate their talents.

One of my top strengths is "Woo -- winning over others".  We're the people who love to connect large groups of people.

John's top strength is "Relator" -- he's committed to deep relationships with people. It's not the quantity...it's the quality.

When I saw this huge pot (in shadow),
I was excited by the possibility of a
big party with gumbo for everyone.
That's Woo!
As we walk the Camino, John will identify folks who need a pin -- I'll go over and give it to them.

John invited Francois to join
us for dinner... He praised
John's French language skills.
There are many pilgrims who walk alone because spouses are either unable or uninterested in this adventure.

Solitude is important for all of us....but community matters, too.  We know we're blessed to be walking the Camino together.

When John sees a pilgrim dining alone, he'll ask them to join us -- sometimes they say yes....sometimes they say no.  But he keeps asking.

Once we've made the connection, I'll usually invite them to visit us in Bay St Louis -- and actually hope they'll come!

Our Camino family keeps getting bigger -- John and I keep finding new and wonderful ways to celebrate our differences and our strengths.
